Traditionally merino, corriedale/halfbred country, Dome Hills Station is 40 minutes inland from Oamaru and stretches back to the Kakanui headwaters. The survivability and fertility achieved of the Headwaters flock are crucial on this kind of country says David, and becoming a Headwaters shareholder was not a difficult decision. I respected Andy Ramsden’s knowledge of genetics and the positioning of Headwaters in the marketplace, especially its control of its own brand.
The biggest gain since joining Headwaters in 2008 has been increasing lambing percentage <> and keeping lambs until spring and getting wool cheque from 12-month hogget wool.
